The SFPD reports that at approximately 6:44pm yesterday, a cyclist was struck and seriously injured when contact was made as a driver attempted to make a right turn.

According to police, the cyclist "tried to overtake the vehicle on the right," and made contact with the vehicle at the corner. The cyclist, a 31-year-old man, hit the car's side mirror, landing on his head on the concrete.

The man was transported to SF General Hospital with a life-threatening head injury.

It's unclear where exactly at the Divisadero/Golden Gate intersection the incident took place, but we've reached out to SFPD for more information and will update this story when and if we know more about what happened.
