North Beach Week: La Boulange Shutters, Safety Fair Tonight, Weekend Events And MorePhoto: Chad K./Flickr

It's been another busy week in North Beach. The weekend kicks off tonight with the Russian Hill Neighbors (RHN) safety fair from 6–9pm at the Tel-Hi Center (660 Lombard St.). This event, originally planned to address the recent series of gropings in the area, will likely touch on the unfortunate shooting on Lombard Street earlier this week as well.

On the culinary front, the Italian Homemade Company is thinking of expanding its North Beach location, while the La Boulange at 543 Columbus Ave. closed its doors today, the first in an upcoming wave of closures.

In political news, Supervisor Julie Christensen has announced a focused effort to dispatch more street sweepers in response to complaints about the amount of trash strewn around District 3.

Finally, don't miss Hoodline's chat with clients of homeless outreach group North Beach Citizens, which recently moved to new headquarters at 1034 Kearny St.
