The Upper Haight Pacific Coast Famers Market will be closing at the end of the month due to an ever-shrinking list of producers, and a lack of customer support.

Back in March, the market had run a survey to try to improve the market and expand the customer base, but by summer, the problem persisted. In July, Jeff Jelsma told Hoodline that the customer turnout was so low that vendors were having trouble justifying booth rentals. As the vendor list dwindled over the years, the customer count shrank further, and so on. 

Now, sadly, the situation has become unsustainable for the market. In an email to the Haight Ashbury Improvement Association listserv earlier today, president Ted Loewenberg told members that the Upper Haight market will close for good at the end of this month. The primary cause cited was the lack of producers, who Loewenberg says were driven away by cold, windy summers over the years. 

The Upper Haight Pacific Coast Farmers Market's last day will be Wednesday, August 26th.

The Inner Sunset Farmers Market is located at 9th & Irving and runs Sundays from 9am-1pm. Also on Sundays is the Divisadero Farmers Market at Divis & Grove, 10am-2pm. Both are year-round.
