Searching for a new job or some part time work?

We've looked in windows and combed through Craigslist and found that many Castro businesses are hiring. Positions range from hairdressers and baristas to social workers and certified nursing assistants. 

Barista/Counter Service Position - Part-Time
Sweet Inspiration Bakery - 2239 Market Street
Compensation: $12.26/hr plus tips

The mom-and-pop bakery is an avid supporter of education and art, and is willing to allow flexible schedules for employees who are students and artists. Applicants need a strong work ethic and personable customer service. Apply in-person and be prepared to give availability and references. Note that they are a sober establishment and have a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and alcohol.

Server Position - Part-Time
Orphan Andy’s - 3991-A 17th Street
Compensation: $12.25/hr plus tips, paid vacations, and IRA retirement program

Orphan Andy's is looking for a server to work the afternoon and graveyard shifts. Applicants must have previous server experience and references. Apply in-person and fill out the application form at the restaurant. Bring a resumé if you have one.

Sandwich-Maker - Full-Time
Ike's Place - 3489 16th Street
Compensation: $15.00/hr

Ike's is seeking "phenomenal, charming, and hard-working people that are pissed-off for greatness," as their Craigslist ad states. Pay is hourly and basic duties include, but are not limited to answering phones, taking orders, and making sandwiches. Applicants must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays. Employees are offered room for advancement in the “Ike’s Ownership" Program, which helps employees work toward owning their own Ike’s. Apply in-person each Wednesday from 4pm-6pm. Dishwasher - Part-Time to Full-Time
Firewood Café - 4248 18th Street
Compensation: $12.25/hr plus tips

Firewood Café is looking for an experienced dishwasher to join their team. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe working environment, washing dishes, and food preparation. Applicants must be able to handle a fast-paced work environment and communicate clearly and professionally with customers and coworkers. Apply online or in-person.

Maitri, Residential Care for People Living with AIDS - 401 Duboce Avenue
Compensation: Varies per position

Miatri, a nonprofit organization, is a 15-bed residential AIDS care facility that is hiring for four positions including a weekend cook, a social worker, and a certified nursing assistant. Hairdressers - Commission or Rental
Revamp Salon - 2164 Market Street
Compensation: Varies

Revamp is looking for hairdressers on a commission or rental basis. They are also looking for hair models for their internal education program. Skills-sharing for hair model sessions are performed by seasoned, licensed professionals. Applicants for the hairdresser role should inquire about the position in-person.
