Burning Man may have cut down on the number of people in town, but that doesn't mean there's not plenty going on. Here's a summary of the week that was in the Castro, plus your upcoming weekend events.

Earlier this week, Hoodline rounded up the Castro's most recent crimesalong with an update on the safety improvements made at multiple intersections in the neighborhood along Market Street

In other news, we checked out the new artwork by Lily Simonson that's gone up in the window of the former Phone Lifeguards on Castro Street, and confirmed the rumors that aarchitecture office will be taking over the former Jumpin' Java space.

It was also a big week in restaurant news: we took a look at the neighborhood's restaurant scene, asking the question, "Is the Castro a culinary destination?" We also answered some questions about the curious changes going on at SliderBar, and found out that Pesce will be closing next week.

Staying in town for the long Labor Day weekend? Here are a few suggestions of things to do in and around the Castro.
