Just when you think you've tasted it all, a few new eateries have joined the SoMa scene, and there are more on the way. Here's the latest on what's new and what's coming very soon to the neighborhood:

Oro

Jason Fox (Commonwealth) and Timothy Felkner (Vigilante Hospitality) debuted their latest concept, Oro, just two weeks ago. Located at 8 Mint Plaza, the restaurant features California fare with Mediterranean influences — and almost all dishes are designed to share.

This past week, Oro added a "blind tasting menu" to the lineup, Felkner tells us. The six-course meal features items from the regular menu and some surprises. It also includes wine pairings, with a few beer and cocktail pairings thrown in as well.

While Oro is currently focused on dinner Mondays through Saturdays, Felkner also tells us that they will be adding lunch service in the future.

Lord George

The former Nova space at 555 2nd St. has reopened as Lord George, backed by Ezra Berman and Miles Palliser, the owners of The Corner Store and San Francisco Athletic Club. Officially opened on Sept. 3rd, the new spot offers oysters, cheese boards, tartines and large plates designed for sharing, plus cocktails, beer and wine.

As Eater SF notes, the name is inspired by George Gordon, an English entrepreneur and speculator who, as Found SF chronicles in fascinating detail, could be considered a founder of the South Park neighborhood back in the 1850s.

Hours for the new spot are Monday-Thursday, 11am-1am, Friday, 11am-2am, Saturday, 10am-2am and Sunday, 10am-1am.

SoMa Pizza

Down at Third and Bryant streets, sporty pizza parlor SoMa Pizza is preparing its debut at 483 Third St. While co-owner Chris Schoman said he wouldn't call it a slice house, they will emphasize slices, given the ideal location for lunch and post-baseball game bites.

They also plan to offer delivery, serve beer and wine in-house, and remain open until 3am daily — although those hours will likely adjust as they settle in, Schoman said.

Caputo Trattoria

Inside Scoop reported this week that Caputo Trattoria is aiming for an early October opening at 100 Brannan St., which previously housed the likes of Slanted Door, La Suite and Sutro. In addition to wood-fired pizzas, the trattoria-style menu will offer pasta dishes, like squid-ink spaghetti, as well as grilled meats and seafood.
