Brioche Expanding Into Former Urban Sidewalk Space On ColumbusPhotos: Geri Koeppel/Hoodline

Brioche Bakery & Cafe (210 Columbus Ave.) is expanding into the adjacent space that used to house the Urban Sidewalk boutique. Owner Naima Moutaim said the new dining area should open in about a month.

The move allows the cozy Brioche, which has been seeing increased business, to serve more customers. Part of the wall to the left as you immediately enter the current Brioche will be opened up to join the spaces, and workers have been busy this week creating the new dining room and the new entrances.

The full Brioche menu, including a small selection of wine and beer, will be available in the new area. Hours will be the same for now: 7am–8pm daily. Moutaim said she wasn't sure how many seats will fit in the small space or if more patio tables will be allowed out front.

Business has been picking up for about a year or so, Moutaim said. Back in 2012 when The Station and Réveille Coffee Co. opened nearby, she said, things slowed down because people "want to try new stuff." But she's been busy lately. "I have a lot of customers from the neighborhood, super nice people, supporting Brioche," she said. "I'm so happy."

Brioche also serves an abbreviated menu of small bites such as cheese and charcuterie, salads and desserts to the neighboring Maritime Wine Tasting Studio, which opened earlier this month.
