The SFPD announced in a press release this morning that three bronze sculptures were stolen from the Nuestros Silencios exhibit on Harry Bridges Plaza on The Embarcadero in front of the Ferry Building. Police are currently seeking the public's help in getting them back.

Nuestros Silencios (Our Silences) by Mexican-born Jose Rivelino Moreno Valle (“Rivelino”), debuted on July 22nd. It features 10 anthropomorphic bronze human figures that are eleven-and-a-half feet tall and weigh roughly a ton each, and an eleventh piece called the Touch Box. It's a cubic sculpture made of iron that contains four small-format pieces based upon the monument figures, and is specially created for people with visual disabilities. Three of those were pilfered.

Promoters noticed the sculptures missing on September 4th, and a month later, they still have not been recovered. The SFPD press release says the sculptures could end up at a pawn shop, collector's display or metal recycling center. It released photos showing the front and rear of a sculpture similar to the one that was taken (see above).
