Hot on the heels of a new Taco Bell Cantina at 710 Third St. applying for a beer and wine license, now the Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken/Happy Donuts on the same block has filed for one, too.
The chicken chain/donut shop, at 761 Third St. at King across from AT&T Park, is a 24-hour operation, but we couldn't reach anyone who could say what the hour of alcohol sales might be. The Taco Bell Cantina booze license hasn't been approved yet, and neighbors have been hotter than habaneros over the possibility. But many didn't want a Taco Bell in the area, period, so we'll see if Louisiana Fried Chicken gets the go-ahead or if neighbors protest this permit, too.
The next question would obviously be: Which wine pairs best with a crispy leg/thigh combo, side of mashed potatoes and an apple fritter?
