Theft In The Lower Haight: CVS Crime, Double Home Invasion, And MorePhoto: Alan Cleaver/Flickr

An iPhone, a laptop, jewelry, socks and a '96 Honda Accord. What do all these things have in common? They were each reported missing in the Lower Haight recently.

Here are a few thefts that occurred in the neighborhood during August and September. This isn't a comprehensive list, but rather a snapshot of an unfortunate trend, as documented by police reports and tipsters.

On the morning of Tuesday, August 11th, a person allegedly stole items and spit on an employee at the CVS Pharmacy on Haight and Fillmore. According to the employee, the suspect is a frequent shoplifter.

The next day around 2:30pm, an intoxicated man in his early thirties entered the same CVS and attempted to take items without paying for them. When a security guard stopped him outside, the man began kicking and punching him. The suspect ran away, and security eventually recovered the stolen items.

Another bout of bad luck hit the CVS on the morning of Sunday, September 13th, when a man assaulted an employee in a sock robbery gone awry. Check out the full story here.

An unlucky resident on the 100 block of Haight, near Laguna, was the victim of a double home invasion robbery. The first alleged break-in occurred on Tuesday, July 28th. That afternoon, the resident came home to find her front door unlocked and electronic equipment missing from her living room. Then on August 18th, exactly three weeks later, the flat was broken into again. This time, the thief got away with jewelry and a laptop. Below are photos from the second break-in, captured by a Nest camera the resident installed beside her front door.

On August 22nd, a man parked his gold 1996 Honda Accord on Fillmore Street at Lassaut, only to find it missing when he returned a few hours later. He reported the theft a day later, but the police have not uncovered the vehicle.

On the evening of September 10th, 18-year-old Daleshawn Hopson allegedly stole an iPhone from a man standing on Haight Street near Webster. According to the victim, who lives in the area, Hopson grabbed his phone as he was standing on the sidewalk staring down at it. Several witnesses saw Hopson run away and throw the phone in some nearby bushes. Police recovered the stolen item, and arrested Hopson.
