Before bread pudding joint Schulzies departed 364 Hayes St. back in April, a new tenant was already in place. As of this morning, Project Juice, the cold-pressed juice company with six locations, has officially debuted its Hayes Valley spot, which it's dubbing "Project Juice Test Kitchen."

Project Juice was founded in San Francisco with the goal of "energizing bodies with superior nutrition." Owners Rachel and Greg Malsin started the company after struggling with allergies and sensitivities. The Hayes Valley location joins existing San Francisco outposts in the Mission, Financial District, Russian Hill and Mid-Market.

The Hayes Valley location is Project Juice's first to go beyond juice and smoothies, offering superfood bowls, breakfast bowls, and cold drinks on tap. Down the line, soups and gluten-free baked goods will also be introduced. All items served are free of dairy, gluten, peanuts and soy.

“As our industry evolves at lightning speed, we want to continue to be at the forefront in product quality, safety and most importantly, innovation,” said Greg Malsin in a press release. “The Project Juice Test Kitchen will allow us to incubate new ideas and products before launching them across multiple locations.”

Project Juice will refine its products based on customer feedback, launching the most successful creations at other locations. Currently, customers can try a coconut yogurt parfait breakfast bowl, kombucha on tap, an acai superberry superfood bowl and hot chocolate with organic raw cacao, maca, agave and vanilla bean. Feedback can be given directly in the shop, or emailed to info [at] projectjuice [dot] com.

For those who simply want a cold-pressed juice to go, a large refrigerator offers all of Project Juice's creations—such as turmeric lemonade, beta bomb, or the famous (and strange looking) black magic, made of purified water, lemon, raw agave, cayenne and activated coconut charcoal.

Project Juice is open weekdays from 7am-7pm, and weekends from 8am to 7pm.
