The Orbit Room To Rise Again Under New OwnershipPhoto: Andrew Dudley/Hoodline

It's been a long six months for fans of the Orbit Room, after we reported that the long-running Market Street bar had closed its doors in April in the wake of founder Jay Johnson's passing. Now, Inside Scoop brings good news: the Orbit Room will rise from the ashes, with a duo of new owners who were close to Johnson.

Courtney Ross and Nic DiLillo were regulars at the bar good friends of Johnson's, and plan to keep things as they were, barring some minor improvements. DiLillo, formerly the bar manager at the Tempest, will be heading up the drink offering, and Ross will handle the food. They hope to make the menu more consistent than in years past, with rotating specials (according to Scoop, a possible plan is for themed nights like meatball Mondays, taco Tuesdays, chicken and waffle Wednesdays, tiki Thursdays and pizzas on the weekends).

The best part for those who've sorely missed the Orbit Room's presence: the pair hope to have the doors open within the next couple of weeks.
