Upper Haight Week: News Of Note, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass And MorePhoto: cwirtanen/Flickr

Haven't yet staked out a spot over at Hardly Strictly? Catch the latest need-to-know news in the Haight, then read on for more weekend events.

The biggest news of the week happened at the western end of Haight Street, when an "uncooperative" injured man ran from a shooting near Alvord Lake to Whole Foods on Tuesday. According to police, he jumped rooftops before being tracked down by police and transported to the hospital. The incident sparked plenty of reader discussion about the much-maligned Haight & Stanyan intersection.

Speaking of reader discussion, our story on a building manager's attempts to engage the city in dealing with drug dealing, untethered dogs and garbage dumping at Haight & Clayton sparked yet more opinions about the state of Haight Street.

In retail news, we noted that local sockery Sockshop has plans to expand its footprint (pun intended) with a next-door shoe store, and that e-cig retailer Beyond Vape also has designs on a Haight Street storefront.

Looking ahead to the weekend, it's all about Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the city's favorite free concert. This year, it features over 100 musical artists on seven stages. Last year, we provided you with a neighborhood-friendly guide, and the same goes this year: remember that no hard alcohol, smoking, or glass is allowed, and that the only free water will be at the drinking fountain near the Rock Med tent (between Banjo and Arrow stages).

Parking will be a nightmare, so the SFMTA is providing extra Muni service to and from the park for the event, including more N-Judah, 5-Fulton, and 28-19th Avenue buses.

And now, your full Upper Haight weekend lineup:
