$10K-15K Antique Violin Stolen From Car On Webster StreetPhoto: Google

A very rare and expensive violin was stolen from a car 10 days ago, but its theft and value are just now being publicized. The SFPD sent out a press release this afternoon about the violin, which is valued between $10,000 and $15,000.

The theft occurred sometime between 7pm and 9:20pm on the night of November 20th. The vehicle was parked in a parking lot on the 1300 block of Webster (between Eddy and Geary).

The violin is described in the press release as a 1795 “George Craske” full size model. Also stolen was a Federiksson bow ($4,000) and a bright orange BAM Hightech Slimline violin case ($3,500). All of the items are not just monetarily valuable—the release says they have sentimental value to the family that owns them.

SFPD is asking for the public's help in tracking down both the culprit and the stolen items. Anyone with information is asked to call (415) 575-4444, or text TIP411.
