The wet weather has done little to dampen recent crime and mayhem in the neighborhood. Since our last crime & safety roundup, we've seen Christmas decoration thievery, a sock robber, port-a-potty arson, smashed glass, and more. (All information comes from SFPD reports, unless otherwise noted.)

Eagle Street "Grinch" Steals Christmas Lights

Nextdoor member Candy T. posted about a thief who stole Christmas lights from her Kite Hill house along Eagle Street on December 3rd. To make matters worse, the "Grinch," as Candy called the suspect, returned on the 8th and stole one of her lawn decorations. This prompted other Nextdoor members to recall the wreaths and other decorations that they've lost over the years.

Sock Robber Strikes Grand View Avenue

In the dark of the night between December 3rd and 4th, a 66-year-old woman's garage was broken into along Grand View Avenue. She awoke on the 4th to find the garage door open, and discovered that coins and socks had been stolen from her vehicle. There is no description of a suspect and no arrest has been made.

Argument Leads To Assault

A December 5th argument ended in assault near 16th and Market. At 1:50am, a man, 46, was having a verbal argument with a younger man in his mid 20s. The younger man punched the older man in the face, knocking him to the ground. No arrest was made and the victim, who lost consciousness, was taken to Davies Medical Center for injuries to his mouth and head.

Pain in the Buttocks

On December 8th at 2:50am, a man, 40, called police after discovering that he had sustained a stab wound to his buttocks in an earlier fight with four men near Castro and Market. He was transported to a local hospital and no suspects were identified or arrested.

Eureka Street Drive-By Robbery

A 51-year-old man was standing on a corner of 19th and Eureka when he was robbed by a younger man, 20, on December 11th. The suspect pulled up in a white four-door vehicle around 6am, brandished a knife, and took the victim's phone before driving off. No arrest was made.

Flag Arsonist

On December 13th at 2:45am, a man, 20, walked up to a closed business on 18th Street between Collingwood and Diamond and lit several of the business' small decorative flags on fire. No further damage occurred and no arrest was made. We have yet to identify the specific store, but let us know if you have ideas.

Church Street Robbery With Force

A man, 35, was robbed and injured on December 14th on Church between 21st and 22nd streets at 11:27pm. Two men in their mid-20s approached the victim and demanded his property. When the victim refused and attempted to get away, the suspects attacked him, stole his cellphone, and fled. The victim refused medical assistance for a bruised forehead and no arrests were made.

Walgreens Glass Smashed Again

Poor Walgreens just can't seem to catch a break. Our last roundup noted that the 18th and Castro location had a window smashed by an angry individual who had been kicked out of the store. This time around, we spotted broken glass on one of their entrance doors. An employee told us that it was from an altercation that took place on December 14th, when a person acting erratically was told to leave. Apparently, another customer got involved in trying to remove the individual, and the front door glass was smashed in the chaos.

Dolores Park Robbery/Stabbing

Two men, aged 22 and 21, and one woman, 24, were attacked and robbed on December 15th in Dolores Park at 6:30pm. All three victims were in the park when 5-7 suspects approached them, asking if they wanted to buy marijuana. The victims declined, and were then asked if they were in a gang. When they replied "no," one of the male victims was attacked by the group of suspects and was later transported to the hospital with stab wounds to the torso and forearm. Some of the victims' items were stolen but later recovered; no arrests were made.

Stun Gun-Carrying Package Thief Arrested

Nextdoor user Brian H. posted about a December 16th incident where witnesses spotted a male cyclist stealing a package. With the help of Patrol Special Police, the SFPD was able to detain and arrest the man, who was found to be carrying a stun gun.

Port-A-Potty Arsonist

On December 18th, a port-a-potty was set fire on Corbett Avenue near Danvers at 4:53pm. There was minor damage and no suspect was identified or arrested.

Crowbar Assault And Robbery

An early-morning incident happened on December 21st at 12:05am near 16th and Pond. Three unknown suspects approached a man, 40, and knocked him to the ground with a crowbar. They then proceeded to kick him multiple times and steal his bag and laptop before fleeing. No arrests were made and the victim was transported to the hospital with injuries to his eye, face, and rib.
