Haight Pin-Up Boutique Tatyana Set To Close In The New YearPhoto: Camden Avery/Hoodline

Tatyana, the boutique at 1529 Haight formerly known as Bettie Page Clothing, is set to close in the next couple of weeks.

We spoke to employees at the store, who said that the current plan is to close on January 8th, well ahead of the store's June lease expiration.

Tatyana originally opened in 2010 as Bettie Page Clothing, specializing in retro women's clothing created by Russian-born designer Tatyana Khomyakova and inspired by Page, the famed pin-up celebrity. Its designs eschewed modern trends in favor of a '50s pin-up aesthetic, including a collaboration with burlesque queen Dita Von Teese.

After a 2014 legal dispute with the licensing company that owned the rights to Page's name and image, the company, which boasted 17 retail locations across the U.S. and Canada, renamed itself as Tatyana, after the line's designer.

Unfortunately, Tatyana has been struggling of late, and is now down to only eight locations. Outposts in Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle, and Boston have all closed within the past year. Store employees said that the Haight Street store would not be replaced by a different location in San Francisco.

Tatyana's space, at roughly 2,000 square feet, is already set to come on the market. Julie Betti, who is representing the space, says the rent will be $12,500 per month—the equivalent of $6.25 per square foot.
