If you've got questions about upcoming Super Bowl celebrations, mark your calendars for a public presentation on what's planned for Super Bowl 50 events around downtown.

On January 14th at 12:30pm, bring a brown bag lunch to the Bayside Room of the Port of San Francisco at Pier 1 to hear more details about the free-to-the-public, family-friendly festivities, which have the city gearing up (and some running for the hills).

The madness/merriment will include a Super Bowl City at the foot of Market Street from Beale to the Embarcadero and in front of the Ferry Building (southbound Embarcadero, Washington Street to Don Chee Way behind the Hotel Vitale) from January 30th–February 7th, as well as concerts at Sue Bierman Park and a Fan Energy Zone at Justin Herman Plaza, among other activities. The Fan Energy Zone alone will feature three areas: the Fan Dome, the Fan Wall and the Fan Stage. Here's what we know so far from the latest press release:

In the 40-foot tall Fan Dome, fans become players as they step into interactive games. Fans play as digital avatars on giant screens and their movements are replicated by motion sensors that light up the Fan Dome.

The Fan Wall is a 50 foot wide video wall that will capture the visual and virtual excitement of Super Bowl City. It will display the leader boards and stats from the Fan Energy Zone games, user-generated content, social media visualizations and live video feeds from around Super Bowl City.

The Fan Stage will be the “live” area of the Fan Energy Zone, serving as a presentation space for community partners, celebrity appearances and autograph signings, and the main space for the DJs and MCs.

In case you've been busy running your Etsy shop or otherwise occupied and have not heard, downtown will be ground zero for Super Bowl fan fun even though the big game will be played at Levi's Stadium in the faraway land of Santa Clara. The Super Bowl 50 Host Committee has been slow to communicate details of the downtown events to the media, though a spokesperson last week gave a rundown of the plans for Sue Bierman Park, and it's also met with neighborhood businesses and stakeholders.

Note to neighbors: In addition to the public events, there are untold numbers of private parties scheduled throughout the city, so don't be surprised if your favorite bars or restaurants are closed due to buy-outs throughout the week or weeks leading up to game day. Call before you go.
