Golden Gate Park's 86th annual holiday tree lighting kicks off tomorrow evening at McLaren Lodge. Longtime park superintendent John McLaren started the tradition of lighting trees along a mile-long stretch of Fell Street leading to his home, McLaren Lodge, in 1929. The tradition lives on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm with rides, games, caroling, a snow play area, a cookie factory, and a visit from Santa himself.
