AHF Fails Bid For Castro Pharmacy Approval, But Final Decision PostponedPhoto: AHF/Yelp

The Bay Area Reporter brings word that yesterday's Planning Commission meeting saw the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) fail to win conditional use authorization to relocate its Castro pharmacy to join the AHF health clinic at 518 Castro St.

AHF has more than 30 pharmacies worldwide, which designates it as formula retail, and neighborhood concerns have also centered on whether yet another pharmacy would be the best use of the Castro Street retail space. "I worry about creating another dead space," said commissioner Dennis Richards yesterday.

Commissioners voted 4-2 vote against the permit, but a final vote was postponed to their January 28th meeting "in order to give AHF time to answer how they would activate the space other than as a pharmacy," reports the BAR.
