Event Spotlight: Extravagant, Ad-Hoc Fashion At Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence 'Project Nunway'Photo: Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence/Facebook

Each week, we'll feature an especially interesting event in the neighborhood based on the event submissions we get, and what we hear about while we're out on the beat. If you want to be considered for next week, please submit your event here.

It's been quite the gloomy week, but the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are planning to turn that around with Project Nunway, their fashion event being held this Sunday at DNA Lounge.

The annual competition pairs professional designers with Sister models, pitting the teams against one another to create the most outrageous, high-fashion ensembles they can from an assortment of new and used materials.

This year's theme is '7x7,' encouraging designers to showcase San Francisco's history and color in their designs. Sister Roma and Bebe Sweetbriar will serve as MCs.

Tickets are $25-$45, with proceeds going to the Chinese Progressive Association, which has been educating and organizing the low-income and working-class immigrant Chinese community in San Francisco since the early 1970s, and its youth leadership group.

If that sounds like too much excitement for a Sunday evening, no worries. There's plenty more on tap, from good old-fashioned arts and crafts to high-flying burlesque, this weekend:
