Haight Street's Fan Clothing To Close, Everything For Sale [Updated]Photo: Camden Avery/Hoodline

This week, Fan Clothing owner James Leonard announced that his boutique, at 1510 Haight St., is winding up and closing for good on Monday, January 18th.

Today, he said, starts a weekend-long sale in which everything in the store—from dresses to coats to accessories—will be marked less than $10. Store fixtures, including racks, shelves, mannequins, and mirrors, will also have to go.

Leonard said in an email, "We have really enjoyed our five years on Haight Street and appreciate the loyalty that our customers have shown us."

In a retail climate where many businesses fold up because of prohibitive rent costs, Leonard said that Fan Clothing was actually closing because he and his wife have a newborn, and wanted to focus on family and on their other brand, Ducks In A Row.

"It was a difficult decision," he said, "but we feel it was a necessary one for us to take. In saying that, we thoroughly enjoyed our years on Haight and will take with us plenty of wonderful memories from our time there."

Update, January 19th:

Leonard said in an email today that Fan Clothing would remain open until January 24th, to continue selling out their stock. He said the sale has been "going very well."
