Woman Killed After 'Altercation' Near UCSF Medical Center [Updated]Photo: Frank Farm/Flickr

The Chronicle reports that police are investigating the death of a woman which took place after an "altercation" between the victim and a male companion near UCSF Medical Center’s emergency room yesterday evening.

The altercation, which UCSF’s police department said occurred around 5pm between the Parnassus medical center's buildings, “led to the woman’s death.”

Police have taken the man into custody. For now, no further details have been released, but we'll update this story when we learn more.

Update, 9:35am: The Examiner reports that David Calvin King, 46, was arrested by UCSF police yesterday and booked into County Jail on suspicion of murder.

Update, 1pm: The Chron has more information, including the fact that the altercation involved a knife, and that neither the victim nor the suspect were UCSF employees.

Update, January 19th, 3:30pm: The Examiner reports that the victim has been identified as 60-year-old SF resident Mina Willis, and that the incident that led to her killing was allegedly a domestic violence dispute. Willis is the first confirmed homicide victim of 2016 in the city.
