The former Forever 21 location at 7 Powell St. is set to become a massive flagship store for telecom giant AT&T, which has placed "coming soon" signs in the large arched windows of the retail space next to the busy Powell Street cable car turnaround.

The company's media relations director, Leland Kim, said it's still in the planning phase for exactly what will fill the mammoth space, but issued this statement:

AT&T is building a one-of-a-kind, 24,000-square-foot retail store in the iconic One Powell building, in downtown San Francisco near Union Square. This three-level store will feature 2 floors of AT&T smartphones, connected devices, DIRECTV, accessories, and home automation solutions displayed in an interactive and innovative style. This unique brand store will be the first flagship location for AT&T on the West Coast and will feature the carrier’s integrated provider platform.

We don't have a timeline yet on when the new store might open, but as you pass by the bustling corner, keep an eye out for the transformation to begin.
