Car Chase Ends In Fiery Crash In SoMa, 3 Fatalities Reported [Updated]Photo: Joe Vazquez/Twitter

A serious accident collision took place in SoMa this evening, ending in flames. The collision appears to have taken place on Brannan Street, between 8th and 9th.

Shortly before 10pm SFPD's Officer Manfredi tweeted that traffic would be impacted in the area for several hours. Ambulances, fire trucks and SFPD officers from multiple stations have reported to the area.

Details are slim at this time, but there are reports that three fatalities have taken place at the scene. 

According to the SFPD Police Scanner, family members of the victims have begun arriving in the vicinity of the wreck. 

We'll update this story as more information becomes available.

Update, 11pm: ABC7 News reported in their 11pm newscast that a white Chevrolet sedan was caught doing donuts by California Highway Patrol. A chase began, during which the Chevrolet driver ran several red lights before heading westbound on Brannan, where it collided with a taxi.

The taxi driver was taken to the hospital, but all three of the passengers in the vehicle are reported to have died at the scene.
