San Francisco got a new coffee option today with the opening of Corridor Cafe, located at the base of the year-old 100 Van Ness apartment building.

The restaurant group Hi Neighbor is behind this latest coffee shop, drawing from expertise from their other ventures: Trestle, Fat Angel, and Stone's Throw

Despite only having opened at 11am this morning, the light and airy space is already drawing a short line of customers. Coffee beans are sourced from LAMILL in Los Angeles, and the standard fare of espresso, cappuccino, lattes and cold brew coffee are all available. For those who want an added twist, you can also order a salted caramel latte (small, $4.25), or a green tea mojito (small, $4).

Pastries come from Oakland's Firebrand, and a breakfast and lunch menu is slowly being rolled out. Dishes coming soon include a shrimp 'po boy on a brioche hoagie with avocado and pickled onions; and the "Corridor Cruffin," a savory take on the trendy treat with gruyere, prosciutto and chive.

A few dishes are inspired from Hi Neighbor's other projects—a kale salad on the menu at Fat Angel, for example, can now be found at Corridor.

At the moment, there is no seating available at Corridor, making it a to-go cafe only. But next week, some outdoor seating will be installed.

Corridor Cafe will be open 7am-4pm Monday through Friday, and 8am-2pm on Saturdays. Today is just a soft opening—prepare for a full menu and regular hours beginning this Monday, February 8th.

Later this spring, keep an eye out for the restaurant—also called Corridor—opening up next door. The venture is described by the team as "elevated comfort fare with smart-casual service for today’s on-the-go diner." We'll keep you updated on when the restaurant is open for business.
