Finally, crabbers and those who devour Dungeness can breathe a sigh of relief, as locally caught crab has been declared safe to eat, according to a report on SFGate. A dangerous and possibly deadly neurotoxin has “declined to low or undetectable levels” in the catches near Monterey, Half Moon Bay, San Francisco and Point Reyes, the article states.

This comes just after Gov. Jerry Brown requested federal disaster aid for crabbers and the Port of San Francisco asked the Port Commission to fund the Crab Industry Relief Plan, which, according to the Examiner, would allocate "more than $128,000 for small businesses, fishermen and deckhands that have been impacted by the lack of a crab season this winter." It passed 4–0 on Feb. 9th.
