Event Spotlight: Puppy Bowl Flagged For Excessive CutenessPhoto: Puppy Bowl Live in San Francisco/Facebook

Each week, we'll feature an especially interesting event in the neighborhood based on the event submissions we get, and what we hear about while we're out on the beat. If you want to be considered for next week, please submit your event here.

You've heard plenty about Super Bowl City, but you may not know that the nation's other favorite February showdown, Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl, is also hosting a special event in SF this week.

Puppy Bowl: Live in San Francisco will be in full force at the Ferry Building from Thursday through Sunday. It's being held at Gott's Roadside, which is known for its dog-friendly patio, and will star a variety of puppies from local shelters, punting and tossing chew toys on a 24-foot faux football field. (An Animal Planet referee will be on site to make sure everyone plays nice.)

This isn't the actual Puppy Bowl XII that'll be broadcast during Super Bowl 50 (that one was filmed in advance in New York), but it does have one advantage over the original: all the adorable competitors are adoptable from the Animal Care & Control San Francisco shelter and the East Bay SPCA

You can stop by from 11am–8pm Thursday–Saturday and 11am–3pm Sunday for a peek at the pups, or watch live streaming footage on Animal Planet. If you're interested in adopting one of the players, you can read more on SFFunCheap, or stop by Gott's.

Here are a few more things to do this coming week:
