Jay's Cheesesteak Has Closed After 14 Years On DivisaderoPhoto: Nuala Sawyer/Hoodline

We first brought news of Jay's impending departure back in November, and last week, the longtime Divisadero restaurant closed its doors for good.

"Jay's Cheesesteak #2 is now closed," reads a typed sign posted in the windows. "I would like to thank the neighborhood for supporting us for the past 14 years. I will miss you all greatly."

"I've been ordering seitan sandwiches from them for 10+ years," said tipster Peyton, who wrote in on Thursday to alert us to the closure. "I'm really hungry they are gone."

New lessee Namu Stonepot, an offshoot of Namu Gaji, is headed to the former Cheesesteak joint, though we don't yet have details on an opening timeline.
