Nice Kicks Shoe Release Has People Lining Up For Overnight Wait In The HaightPhoto: Camden Avery/Hoodline

Wondering just why there are lawn chairs lined up at the corner of Haight and Masonic?

Well, here's your answer: Nice Kicks, the shoe store that just opened for business in the former Shoe Biz location at 1420 Haight St., is hosting a limited-edition Adidas release tomorrow morning.

People started lining up earlier today, including two young men we spoke to who traveled up from Los Angeles explicitly for the release.

"We got here early this morning," one of them said. He said he was going to buy two pairs, one to sell and one to keep, depending on how expensive they are.

"They're probably worth $500" to resell, he said.

People waiting in line this afternoon included hopeful customers, one young woman who was holding a seat for her boyfriend, and a handful of young homeless people who were being paid to sit in line by customers who didn't want to do it themselves.

Nice Kicks said procedure for the line was for customers to come back for an 8am check-in tomorrow, before the store opens for business.
