New York City's famed street food vendor The Halal Guys is set to take over the former Naan-N-Curry location in Union Square, right on the edge of the Tenderloin.

According to Eater SF, the franchise will open its first San Francisco restaurant at 340 O'Farrell St. early this summer, with hopes of capitalizing on the area's hungry clubgoers and tourists. (It's unrelated to the FiDi's Halal Cart, which serves similar food.)

After making a name for itself on the streets of NYC, where it packed gyros and platters with meats, veggies and a creamy white sauce for 25 years, Halal Guys announced its plans for a nationwide expansion in 2014—with sights set on becoming “the Chipotle of Middle Eastern food." It already has brick-and-mortar locations in New York, Chicago, and Southern California, and announced it would open its first Bay Area location in downtown Berkeley late last year.

We'll let you know as soon as an opening date has been set.
