Outer Sunset Crime Roundup: Meth Arrest, Woman Pepper-Sprayed In Car, MorePhoto: MD111/Flickr

We occasionally comb through crime roundups from Taraval Station and the SFPD as a whole to find news of interest to our readers. This week, the Outer Sunset saw a meth arrest, a mugging, and a woman pepper-sprayed in her own car.

While there will not be a community meeting at Taraval Station this month, March’s meeting details have been announced. The next meeting will be held at Ortega Branch Library on Wednesday, March 23rd, from 6-8pm.

Police check leads to meth arrest

On February 7th at 10:49pm, officers patrolling the Great Highway at Taraval Street saw a man rummaging through the cabin of a truck. While the suspect said that the vehicle belonged to his friend, officers also discovered a “suspicious vial containing a crystal-like substance,” later identified as methamphetamine. After a computer check revealed two arrest warrants for the suspect, the man was arrested.

Man mugged on 26th Avenue

At 10:30pm on February 6th, a 22-year-old man was walking home on the 3000 block of 26th Avenue when the suspect, a male between 20-30 years old, approached him from behind. The suspect stole the victim's bag, and the victim fell down. The suspect then fled the scene in a four-door dark Honda or Nissan. The victim suffered a contusion to the head and scrapes to his knuckles.

Woman pepper-sprayed in own car

Over on the 1300 block of 46th Avenue, a woman was pepper-sprayed as she was getting into her car around 3:39am on February 7th. She saw the suspect staring at her, but as she continued to enter the car, the suspect assaulted her with pepper spray. While most of the stream missed the victim, some of it did get into her eyes. The suspect fled the scene.

Resident’s bike stolen from garage

On February 9th, a 37-year-old male resident of the 2100 block of 29th Street had his bike stolen after hearing his garage open. Hearing a noise and thinking it was his roommate, he went out to the garage and found his bike gone. The burglary occurred sometime between 5:15am and 7:40pm.
