Cole Valley Antiques Relocates To Past PerfectPhoto via Cole Valley Antiques

This week, Cole Valley Antiques, formerly of 90 Parnassus St., finished setting up shop at Past Perfect's 854 Stanyan location.

Cole Valley Antiques was founded in 2008 by Angie Petitt-Taylor and Jerome (Jerry) Emerson. The move into Past Perfect won't shutter the Parnassus Street store permanently: according to Cole Valley Antiques via Instagram, Jerry will remain in the original storefront and run it as Jerome's Antiques.

Past Perfect is an antiques collective that opened its Stanyan Street store two years ago, as an offshoot of their main, Marina store, which has since closed to relocate to Geary and 25th Avenue. Past Perfect focuses largely on art and mid-century antiques.

The move, announced last month, involved selling off some of Cole Valley Antiques' larger items and downsizing into the new space.

One of the vendors at the Past Perfect collective, who was manning the shop today, said that Angie had been setting up her area of Past Perfect for a couple of weeks.

As to the reason for the move, Petitt-Taylor said "a rise in the rent was a motivating factor in the move." She said that happened at the same time that Jerry was interested in taking the business "in another direction."

"I took that opportunity to reconnect with Melanie Shain, owner of Past Perfect," she said. "I had had the pleasure of being a part of her first location on Union Street back in 2002."

How does she feel about the move?

"I am very excited about Cole Valley Antiques' new home," Petitt-Taylor said. "I have a strong appreciation for what can be accomplished in a 'cooperative' environment. ... The other merchants [at Past Perfect] have been extremely welcoming, helpful and have exemplified the old adage, 'It takes a village'."
