It's Official: The Former O'Reilly's Is Opening Soon As Chief Sullivan'sPhoto: Geri Koeppel/Hoodline

Work is progressing in earnest at the former O'Reilly's Irish Pub at 622 Green St., which closed in May of 2014, and the name is on the window: Chief Sullivan's.

We've left messages for owner Rick Howard (Bruno's, Harry's Bar, Eddie Rickenbacker's) and haven't heard back, but a source told us the bar could open this month—although not by St. Patrick's Day, as hoped. It's named after San Francisco Fire Department Chief Engineer Dennis T. Sullivan, who was in charge during the Great Earthquake and Fire of 1906 and died after being mortally wounded during the disaster, according to the Virtual Museum of the City of San Francisco.
