Yesterday's storm knocked a couple trees down on Clayton south of Haight, and a couple more in Duboce Triangle. But overall there have been relatively few reports of damage or flooding, so far.

The National Weather Service is continuing its Flash Flood Watch until late tonight, as a second storm moves in this afternoon. The weather report also shows possible thunderstorms tomorrow.

The Chronicle notes that this weekend and the rain next week could get the state back to its normal seasonal rainfall (while still stuck in a longer-term drought). It notes that the city has two emergency shelters open for homeless people, one at the Hall of Flowers in the county fair building in Golden Gate Park, and, the other at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

Here's the full text from the NWS on today's Flash Flood Watch:

More Heavy Rain likely late today and tonight.

The next Pacific weather system will begin to spread widespread rain across the North Bay by late this afternoon and then across the remainder of the region from this evening through the early morning hours of Monday. Rain will likely be heavy at times starting this evening, and there is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms. Heavy rain late on Saturday has saturated the soil.

Therefore, additional Heavy Rain will lead to rapid rises on rivers and streams by this evening, creating flooding potential. In addition, flooding of low lying and poorly drained urban areas will be possible. Rock slides or debris flows are likely in areas of steep terrain.

Flash Flood Watch in effect from this evening through late tonight.

The National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the entire San Francisco Bay area as well as the entire Monterey Bay Area.

From Sunday evening through late Sunday night.

Very Heavy Rain On Saturday resulted in minor flooding. This heavy rain also saturated the soil throughout the region. Additional moderate to heavy rain is forecast for late Sunday and Sunday night which will cause rapid rises on small streams and creeks and could result in flash flooding. In addition, rock slides and debris flows are likely in areas of steep terrain including the Santa Cruz Mountains and along the Big Sur coast.
