Last night, the Bay Area Reporter brought word that Pink Saturday, the neighborhood's Pride pre-party, has officially been called off.

The event was renamed "Pink Party" last year after the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who had traditionally hosted the event, bowed out and The San Francisco LGBT Center took over as organizer

However, the BAR reports that Supervisor Scott Wiener, after a meeting with stakeholders yesterday, stated that the LGBT Center doesn’t have the staffing or capacity to continue producing the street party, which is "not a core part of what they do."

As a result, there will be no street closures on June 25th. No other community groups have stepped forward to put on the street party, but Wiener told KQED that officials are working on a plan for the neighborhood, which is still expected to draw crowds on that day, that will include "access to portable bathrooms.”
