Tomorrow: Fillmore Wine Walk To Highlight Local MerchantsPhoto: Joel/Flickr

A spring wine walk is taking place along Fillmore Street tomorrow night, with over 22 businesses between Eddy and Jackson streets participating.

The walk is a collaboration between the Fillmore Merchants Association and Steven Restivo Event Services. "We had put on our own wine festivals in the past, but this year we decided to collaborate," said Patti Mangan, of the Merchants Association and Imagine That Design Studios. "We've worked with Steven Restivo for years on the Fillmore Jazz Festival, and felt it was a great partnership for this event."

A diverse group of businesses are opening their doors for tastings, and some are offering extra perks. Renaissance Salon (2600 Sacramento) is offering complimentary make-up refreshes, quick hair styling, and free bang trims. Superga (2326 Fillmore) is offering a raffle, and Rebecca Minkoff (2124 Fillmore) will be hosting personal stylist Sasha Maksutenko to offer styling tips from 4-8pm

According to Sarah Tipple of Steven Restivo, the goal of the event is to bring wine enthusiasts to Fillmore, and to highlight the wares of local merchants. Most of the participating businesses are retail spots that open during the day, as opposed to restaurants or bars. So outside wineries are being brought in, such as Hall Wines, Ceja Vineyards, Bouchaine and Terra Sávia

"You don't see many wine tastings in a restaurant, partly because you have to get a permit," Mangan told us. "This wine walk format is a way for people to get to know the wineries, in an environment where they can get to know retail brands as well. It's a great pairing."

The event will take place tomorrow, Thursday, March 24th, from 4-8pm, with "last pour" at 7:45. Tickets for the event are $20 in advance, or $25 in person the day of (cash only). Participants can swing by 2001 Fillmore St. to pick up a complimentary wine glass and a full map of participating businesses.
