Ambiance Will Reopen On Haight This Friday

Back in January, we let you know that Ambiance would be closing its 1458 Haight St. location for a three-month renovation and interior redesign, in order to spruce up its flagship store.

The Haight location was the chain's first, and has been in the neighborhood since 1983. In 1996, co-owner and co-founder Donna O'Leary took over, making this year the 20th anniversary for the Haight Street store under her leadership.

O'Leary let us know that the official reopening party for the Haight location will be this Friday at 5pm. They'll be giving out swag bags full of jewelry, scarves, shirts, and other items for the first 80 people who show up. They'll also have raffles, and, for people who spend over $20, celebratory Ambiance 20th Anniversary mugs to give away.

O'Leary was also kind enough to let us pop in to get a feel for the renovation. The new aesthetic involves a lot of raw wood and exposed brick, with bright white accents. And, of course, chandeliers for days.

You can see in the photos that the space is still very much in progress—there wasn't a single item in the store when we were lurking around. An employee on site told us that the Friday opening will likely be a photo finish, but they're excited to have it done. Plus, then they get to party:
