The Inner Sunset doesn't have as many performance and event venues as other San Francisco neighborhoods, which means the slack has been taken up by the area's churches.

This weekend, there are a few secular events being held at local houses of worship: tonight, St. Anne's of the Sunset is hosting a performance of the San Francisco Sound Wave Chorus, an all-female, four-part harmony a cappella group. Then on Saturday, St. Anne's is holding a Casino Night fundraiser for the church school's athletic program.

Also on Saturday, at Seventh Avenue Presbyterian Church, music fans can attend a concert by flutist Mereenai Shim and basoonist Kris Kring, part of a concert series called Seventh Avenue PerformancesThe series launched in 2002 to engage music lovers and take advantage of the church's acoustics. After Saturday's performance, there's just one more date on this year's concert calendar: the Amaranth String Quartet (May 28th).

For the non-musically inclined, some other things to do in the neighborhood this weekend: take an urban beekeeping class at Garden for the Environment, watch a Bay Area Vintage Base Ball League doubleheader, or visit the Inner Sunset Farmers' Market to stock up on healthy, local food.

Check out the full lineup of local events below, and visit hoodline.com/events for more events from around the city.

Do you have an event to promote? List it for free on the Hoodline events calendar to reach a wide audience inside (and outside) your neighborhood. Submit your event details and we may even feature it right here next week.
