Lower Haight's Merch Boutique Finds A Temporary Home With Hayes Valley's SR66Photo: Solveig C./Yelp

Lower Haight boutique Merch has found a new home while its Lower Haight store undergoes an earthquake retrofit. The eclectic shop—which carries jewelry, home goods, clothes and stationery—has temporarily moved in with jewelry maker SR66 at its store at 66 Gough St. (at Market) in Hayes Valley.

Merch closed its doors in January, in anticipation of the building's renovation. At the time, owner Yong Cho told us that she planned to reopen once the retrofit was completed, but that in the meantime, she was looking for a space to hold a pop-up. Now, she's found a spot.

Cho's first learned about SR66 through an article we wrote about it last year. "I was walking down Gough one evening, and everything was closed, except this place," she told us. The bright lights and jewelry drew her in, and a partnership began—Cho began carrying SR66 jewelry at her boutique in the Lower Haight.

Now, SR66 is carrying some Merch items while Merch's old shop continues to be renovated. The small store, densely packed but not overcrowded, and offers a nice retail reprieve on an otherwise quiet block of Gough Street.

Cho hopes to reopen in her old spot once the retrofit is completed, but at the moment, there's no clear timeline of when that will occur. In the meantime, fans of Merch can swing by 66 Gough to pick up a baby onesie, scented candles or some unique kitchenware—along with a wide array of SR66's handmade jewelry.

SR66 is open Wednesday through Saturday from 1-7pm, and Sunday from 11am-6pm. The shop is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
