Music lovers around the world were devastated to learn this morning that legendary singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Prince had passed away unexpectedly in his Minnesota home, at the age of 57. Tonight, City Hall will be lit purple in his honor. 

For those interested in mourning the late singer with other fans (and dancing to a few of his hits), venues around the city have announced a number of dance nights, tribute parties, and screenings of his 1984 film Purple Rain.
