Super Bowl 50 Host Committee Releases Rosy Impact StudyPhoto via SF Citizen.

The Super Bowl 50 Host Committee this morning released an independent study by Repucom finding that the controversial event "generated a positive impact for the San Francisco Bay Area community." We've heard from numerous residents and business owners who would beg to differ (and don't forget those vandalized statues), but the study didn't address economic impacts, only impressions.

Among the findings: 1.9 million Bay Area adults attended at least one Super Bowl 50-related event in the region, with 1.1 million attending Super Bowl City; 85 percent of event attendees gave a positive rating. Local nonprofits received $13 million, making it the most giving Super Bowl ever, as promised. However, only 45 percent of respondents said they want to see another Super Bowl here.
