Tishman Speyer's 400-Foot Spear & Folsom Tower Wins ApprovalPhotos: Tishman Speyer

At last week's regularly scheduled hearing, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve Tishman Speyer's request for a 100-foot height increase at 160 Folsom St., putting the developer another step closer to constructing a twisty, 400-foot tower at Spear and Folsom.

The decision came after multiple hearings at City Hall this month, which garnered in-depth discussion about the city's sale price for the public portion of the parcel, the subsidy Tishman Speyer is receiving to help finance the 40 percent affordable units, and who will be able to afford those units.

The matter isn't completely settled just yet: the board still needs to approve the sale of the city's portion of the parcel to Tishman Speyer, which should happen sometime this spring.
