Witnesses Help Detain Suspect In Life-Threatening SoMa Hit-And-RunPhoto: Justin McGregor

With the help of onlookers, police detained a suspect in an attempted hit-and-run around 11:15pm last night on the 1200 block of Mission Street.

According to SFPD, two men, ages 39 and 43, were loading a grill into the back of a truck when a red Hyundai Sonata crashed into the truck and both victims at a high speed.

The suspect then got out of his vehicle and ran, but witnesses chased him down and detained him until police arrived.

Both victims were transported to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.
