KTVU's Tara Moriarty reports that a domestic violence suspect stole the vehicle and crashed it after police pursued it to Bayview:

The commotion in Bayview didn't go unnoticed, as people took to Twitter to report a host of squad cars and police in the area:

Update, 5/24: SFPD today reports that the chase began in Russian Hill, where the owner of a Chevy Silverado that had been stolen on Saturday spotted the vehicle double-parked on the 900 block of Union Street.

The car theft victim and another man who was with him confronted a suspect who was inside the vehicle, who denied that the car wasn't his. Three more suspects then walked up, put luggage in the bed of the truck, and pulled out handguns, which they pointed at the victim's heads, asserting that "this is their truck now," according to police.

Police were then called and began a car chase that ended with the arrests of the three of the suspects at Dormitory & Northridge in Bayview. The fourth suspect remains at large.
