eBay listings have led Taraval Station detectives to stolen property from multiple auto burglaries across the Bay Area. Three suspects from Oakland have been arrested in connection with the property crimes.
Back in March, a woman reported that she parked her Chevy SUV around 7:30pm at Lincoln Way and 44th Avenue. When she returned to her car at 8pm, she discovered a broken window. Thieves had stolen two laptops and a specialized camera used for medical purposes.

The sharp-eyed victim then noticed her stolen camera listed on eBay. She contacted Taraval Station investigators, who traced the seller to a location in Oakland. The Taraval Station Investigations Team (SIT) surveilled the seller’s residence and obtained a search warrant.
Assisted by the Oakland Police Department, Taraval Station officers and investigators served the search warrant at a residence on the 4200 block of Wilshire Boulevard. Officers discovered multiple items that were believed to be stolen. They recovered the medical camera and also reunited a mountain bike, stolen during an auto burglary in Pleasant Hill, with its owner.
During the search, three Oakland residents were arrested after officers determined there was probable cause. 51-year-old Mario Starnes was booked on two counts of possession of stolen property. 2- year-old Trevor Starnes was booked on one count of possession of stolen property. 33 year-old Kostas Lirakis was booked on an outstanding Alameda County warrant for second degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and theft.
Taraval Station has photos of the stolen items found at the residence on their website. If you believe your belongings may be amongst the recovered items, contact the station at (415) 759-3100. You will be asked to show proof of ownership, such as a serial number or a police report documenting the theft.
