Event Spotlight: 'Eggs & Ham' Fundraiser At Biergarten For The Hayes Valley Neighborhood AssociationPhoto: Sim Blakeney/Hoodline

We'll regularly feature an especially interesting event in the neighborhood based on the event submissions we get, and what we hear about while we're out on the beat. If you want to be considered, please submit your event here.

Every year, a unique remembrance of the 1906 fire and earthquake takes place in Hayes Valley. The neighborhood gathers together to eat brunch, in remembrance of the blaze that allegedly began when a Hayes Valley cook was making eggs and ham, and a fire started in their bad chimney.

This Saturday's celebration, starting at noon, is held to remember that historical event, and to raise funds for the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association. Starting at noon, the neighborhood will gather at Biergarten (424 Octavia St.) for food, drink and fun.

The whole neighborhood is participating: Hayes Valley Art Works will be bringing family-friendly art projects for people to work on, and Brass Tacks and Suppenküche will be donating beer, with all proceeds from sales going to benefit the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association. PROXY and Patricia's Green will have performances by local artists.

If you already have brunch plans this Saturday, but are looking for other things to do this weekend, here are a few more fun events taking place around the neighborhood. To check out more local events around the city, visit hoodline.com/events
