More Details On Castro's Forthcoming Restaurant/Bar 'Finn Town'Photo: Brian Ray/Hoodline

Last fall, we caught wind of the new project headed to the troubled space at 2251 Market St.: Finn Town, from Castro resident Rick Hamer. Now, Inside Scoop has gotten some of the key details on the forthcoming restaurant, most notably that it'll be co-owned by Ryan Scott, the Top Chef alum and frequent TV guest who also owns Potrero Hill's Market & Rye.

Finn Town, a "tavern with a twist," takes its name from the Castro's original moniker at the turn of the last century, when it was largely home to Finnish immigrants. Scott told Inside Scoop that he plans to offer "neighborhood-friendly and unpretentious" food, with dishes like crab tater tots and fried chicken, as well as cocktails, desserts, and breads made in-house.

The project is aiming to be a new chapter for Scott, whose similar gastropub, Mason, closed last year in Potrero Hill after just four months in business. The space at 2251 Market has seen a revolving door of tenants: Barracuda Sushi closed last January, making way for ManDu in May and then Janchi Korean Gastropub in June, which lasted only through early September before closing. We'll have more info on Finn Town when it arrives later this fall.
