Outer Sunset Week: Playland At 43rd Avenue Opens, Int'l Food Faire, Celebrate Moms, MoreA giraffe mom and her calf at the SF Zoo. (Photo: angela n./Flickr)

It's foggy again in the avenues, with a hint of rain. This weekend's forecast looks like more of the same, but hopefully it'll be nice enough to enjoy some of the outdoor activities coming up in the Outer Sunset.

Playland at 43rd Avenue is finally opening, so drop by on Saturday to check out the opening day celebration with your friends and neighbors and see what's been added to the long-vacant Francis Scott Key Annex schoolyard. (If you're feeling especially generous, consider making a donation to help complete Playland's skate park.)

Prefer to hang out indoors on Saturday? Bring your appetite to the 24th annual International Food Faire at St. Ignatius College Prep. In addition to food from 11 different cultures, there will be music, dancing, and a raffle.

Sunday is Mother's Day, and by the time you are reading this, it's probably too late to send a card. If mom is in town, she might enjoy a brunch, such as the one being held at the United Irish Cultural Center. Got kids in tow? Bring them across the street to the zoo afterward, because their presence will get her into the zoo for free. It's not exactly the same thing as a spa day, but then again, spas don't (usually) have squirrel monkeys and red-bellied lemurs, either.

Here are the details for your events for the weekend. For more fun around the city, check out our full events calendar at hoodline.com/eventsIf you have an event you'd like to add to our calendar, you can submit it here for free.
