Pampalasa, 9th & Folsom's Filipino Restaurant, To Close By Summer's EndPhoto: Pampalasa

Fans of Filipino cuisine, take note: Pampalasa will be closing its doors on Folsom Street by the end of this summer.

Inside Scoop reports that a rent increase has prompted the restaurant's owner, Jennifer Villamin, to shutter her first and only location.

Villamin opened Pampalasa last May after completing a major, unexpected overhaul on the space, formerly an Indian restaurant. Despite early setbacks, Pampalasa scored a recommendation from the Michelin Guide for its flavorful dishes, cheery interior and its authentic kamayan meals (in which diners enjoy a communal meal with their hands off banana leaves).

Pampalasa may return elsewhere: Inside Scoop notes that Villamin is in conversation with a developer about taking over a new space in the neighborhood.
