Pedestrian Killed, Cyclist Critically Injured In Separate CollisionsPhoto: Google

Two separate collisions in the southwest neighborhoods last night left a pedestrian dead and a cyclist in life-threatening condition.

Shortly before 7:20pm, a 23-year-old female cyclist was struck by a vehicle at Great Highway and Vicente, according to police. She sustained major head injuries, including skull fractures, and was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition.

Just hours later, at 10:25pm, a motorcyclist collided with a 78-year-old male pedestrian at Brotherhood Way and Junipero Serra Blvd. Police say the victim was crossing in the crosswalk when the driver of an electric motorcycle struck him. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries; the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

As with most of the injury-collision stories we cover, we don't know whether the drivers were cited for the collisions at this point.
